Recipes for 'Busy Mums'

Through research it was understood that busy mums feel under pressure to try recipes that may look wonderful in a cookery book, but on a day-to-day basis take far too much time and money to produce. With help from real mums and their children a selection of recipes were produced that were interesting, healthy and tasty for all the family to enjoy, whilst still being versatile enough to cook for a family tea, any day of the week.”

"What's for tea Mum?"

With support from Jenny Powell, TV prsenter, the first booklet 'What's For Tea, Mum', offers three family meals using lean pork which are really easy to prepare for a midweek meal. Click here to download press release for further information.

Recipes:
* Pork Balls in Tomato Sauce served in large pasta shells

* Coconut Pork to encourage children to eat spicey dishes

* Pork Burritos for a Mexican taste

2 more booklets are to be published in 2006 see above for more details

JANUARY - MARCH 2005

Recipe Booklet - Pork...help yourself

The heavier part of the campaign focussed on healthy eating after the festive season and lighter meals. This was achieved through the circulation of a heavier weight information and recipe booklet featuring 8 recipes and more pork nutrition information, again supported by Phil Vickery and Angela Dowden.

JANUARY - FEBRUARY 2005

Butchers New Year Healthy Pork Promotional Kits

A promotional point-of-sale kit has been developed to help butchers highlight the health benefits of lean pork, at a time when consumers are ruing the excesses of the festive season.

The kits, produced by the British Pig Executive (BPEX), include an empty belly poster for butchers to highlight special offers in store and a booklet containing four mouth-watering recipes for lighter pork meals, such as: baked pork ratatouille and pork stir-fry with chilli and lime.

The kits have been produced to coincide with a national consumer advertising campaign for pork. Designed to complement the Government’s health agenda to tackle the issue of obesity in the UK, the kits will reinforce the message that lean pork is highly nutritious and naturally low in fat.

96% Fat Free Pork - Advertising Campaign and poster campaigns in women’s press, Sunday magazines and outside Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda & Morrisons supermarkets on 6 sheet poster sites.

SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER 2004

Recipe Book - Pork ...positively good for you

In the last 2-3 years promotional activity has concentrated on improving perceptions of pork in relation to taste and convenience. 2004 however brings a new challenge in the form of a government campaign to tackle obesity. This presents a great opportunity for Pork, as it is naturally low in fat, sugar and salt as well as containing many other valuable nutrients.

Consumer perception is lagging behind the facts, and so a 2 phase campaign was produced to raise awareness of how lean pork is.

A healthy information driven recipe booklet sponsored by celebrity chef Phil Vickery and nutritionist Angela Dowden will feature 4 low-in fat recipes and be circulated to cookery writers and food editors nationwide. This will be supported by a full media PR campaign.
